WHO WE ARE | WHAT WE DO
EMP COLLECTIVE is a group of young artists who joined forces to make art and save lives. You may have spotted one (or many) of our intrepid members acting in a theatre piece, filming a short movie, hanging one of their latest works in the gallery, heading up a writing workshop, scoring a tune for our latest project, handing you a beer after a show, or walking around like a sleep-deprived zombie (don’t be scared, it happens sometimes).
EMP COLLECTIVE also runs and manages EMP, a multi-use arts space in downtown Baltimore, where they produce their own varied work and regular programming as well as playing host to a slew of talented local and visiting artists. “A hub of artistic activity” recognized as Best Arts Collective and Best Multi-Use Arts Space (Baltimore City Paper), EMP has been lauded as one of the boldest “visions to change Baltimore” (Baltimore Magazine).
We are an all-volunteer non-profit collective and space dedicated to creating provocative, social, multimedia art experiences. We nurture artists from all disciplines and collaborate with communities to bring new, diverse art to new and diverse audiences. Our mission? To support artists in developing, producing, and championing risk-taking work that builds lasting relationships across mediums and communities.
HOW WE DO THIS
Programming focused on multi-disciplinary and multi-community collaboration. Projects that challenge both artist and audience member in content and form. Creating specific platforms for professional and artistic growth (such as our Resident Artists program, our Cans n Drafts workshop and development program for writers and performers, our Curator Series for guest curators in visual and performance art, etc.). Events that are fun, engaging, and unexpected. Affordable space use for outside artist workshops and events.
