Sinner Man Staged Reading
THIS WEDNESDAY – JULY 22, 8PM
Come kick back a few beers and Capri Suns to a staged reading of Liz Maestri’s latest play, SINNER MAN. Sinner Man is an impertinent and darkly humorous deconstruction of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. It also may or may not be about how women will quietly take over the world. Just maybe…
WHY WE’RE ARE DOING THIS
We think we like Liz. She makes dark and funny plays. She may even be an EMP member. We may have produced her play, Condo Condo Condoland in 2013. She may have had her writing featured in several gallery exhibitions at EMP. This reading may be part of Parityfest, a summer reading series focused on the elevation and celebration of women-identified playwrights. Just maybe…

ABOUT THE PLAY
Dorian Gray is rich, beautiful, and worshiped by all who meet him, especially other rich, beautiful people. Ensconced in a gilded world of lavish parties, gardens, narcotics, and the fine arts, Dorian goes to extremes to preserve his glorious youth and privilege. But nothing really lasts forever–not even metaphysical pacts with the devil–and Dorian and his entourage must contend with the rapidly changing world knocking on their doorstep. An impertinent deconstruction of Oscar Wilde’s novel, Sinner-Man searches for the absurd humor in the world’s absurd imbalance.
Organized by Cohesion Theater, ParityFest Baltimore 2015 will run Wednesdays-Sundays July 1-August 9. Some days will have readings by more than one theater company. For more information about the full schedule of readings, visit www.cohesiontheatre.org/
