A Girl Called Esther

EMP is opening its arms to Esther, Queen of Persia, by way of NYC.

Spark and Echo Arts  is bringing its latest devised mixed-media creation, A Girl Called Esther, to EMP December 9-11.

Esther, a behavioral psychologist who thrives on keeping her life in order, is faced with a situation beyond her control when her mother falls into a coma. In a desperate attempt to wake her mother up, Esther forces herself to read the ancient story of Queen Esther to her mother–a story Esther hates and has avoided for years, but one that her mother loves. As she revisits the story her namesake’s story and begins to lose control, she finds herself face to face with a woman challenged by the same question she now faces–can she let go and trust?

Original music and movement inspired by old school spirituality.
